S&W M&P .22lr Pistol?

It appears that Smith & Wesson have decided to make its popular M&P series pistol in a .22lr flavor.  Well, at least by proxy through Walther America.  I could not find any more information at this time about the pistol other than the information on Bud's Gun Shop.  Bud's price shows it going for $364.

It appears that Walther has decided to outfit the .22lr version of the M&P with a manual safety and although it is hard to make out; it also appears that there are no interchangeable back straps. (but there might be) I first spotted this on Guns & Coffee blog.  They also comment that it may be made in a 10 and 12 shot configuration.  Hopefully we will see more about this critter at the Shot Show in January.

I just hope it comes with a threaded barrel option.
