NICS Process in Motion :: What Happens During your Background Check

Whenever you purchase a firearm from a Federal Firearm Licenced (FFL) dealer a NICS check must be done. That is what the paperwork that you fill out is; also known as a Form 4473. So what happens once the dealer transmits that data to NICS? Here is a video put together by the FBI detailing the process.

  1. What you have written is incorrect, at least in NC. If you have a CHP, there is NO NICS check performed.
