Walther PPX vs. Hi-Point JCP :: Photo Comparison

Top: Walther PPX // Bottom: Hi-Point JCP
I took some flak via email from some folks due to a remark I made in passing about how the Walther PPX resembles a Hi-Point. I just thought I'd let you all know that I'm not the first person to draw the same comparison. Do not make the mistake of construing my comments on appearance to also judge the quality of the pistol. I do not have any experience firing the PPX, but I'm willing to bet it will perform better than a compatible Hi-Point. At least I expect it too. This post is to illustrate how some have drawn the comparison in appearance.

  1. Yep, saw the photographs. You're incorrect. They aren't similar. I base this observation on the obvious fact that the grips are nowhere near the same size, shape, length or width. And that the slide is not similar in size, length, width, or shape. The trigger guard may be similar. Sorry, that's about it. Oh, and, there is only one trigger on each of them. And one front sight and one rear sight.

  2. If you just looked at the silhouettes, and not side by side, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I've been slammed by uppity internet mall ninjas for saying the same thing. Glad I'm not the only one that has noticed, and had the balls to point it out.

  3. If you are saying they look similar because the they both are somewhat L shaped then I would agree. Otherwise they don't look that similar at all. No more similar than Glock 17 & a Hi Point or pretty much any semi-auto and any other semi-auto. I guess these mall ninja's need to squint, turn off the lights and dim their display so they can see what you are seeing.

  5. Not even close. Do you think the Hi-Point Carbine looks just like an AK47? Maybe a 4" S&W K Frame looks just like a Colt SAA to you? Maybe we need a gun related eye chart.

  6. I think it's a testimony to just how fugly hi point really is. I made the same comparison at first, but then seeing them side by side you remeber that your brain tries to protect you by distorting or even blocking traumatic images. The ppx may be as pretty as a px4 storm, but it is nothing like a hipoint.

  7. Lol, plenty of butt hurt Walther fanboys here. I'm with ya on this one. The thought of some of the newer Walthers somewhat resembling Hipoints popped up randomly in my head. So I looked it up on google and it seems like I'm not alone in this. Ok, not saying it's a carbon copy of a hipoint, but the similarities are uncanny. The only thing is that you picked the wrong model to compare. Look up the Walther PPQ 45 and tell me she's not ugly.

  10. Most people thought so or they wouldn't be here that's what I typed in Google Walther that looks like HiPoint and no it's not like a PPK and a Bersa Thunder but it's similar for sure.
