Buck Shot in a Pine Board

A friend of mine that does quite a bit of wood working, from gun stocks to guitars, sent me a couple pictures he took of some pine boards he was preparing. This is what he had to say:
"I came across some interesting knots in the knotty pine I was finishing today, but these are not knots. It was buck shot embed in the wood from a hunter. It looks like the shot had been in there for many years to make the discoloring."
I think a gun cabinet made out of a bunch of pine board with buck shot embedded into it would be pretty sweet.

I thought this was pretty cool so I thought I'd share. I'll be honest though, this is what I thought of immediately:

Have a great day!

  1. I had a similar experience with some walnut I was using to build a table. It looked to be 00 Buck. I just left the lead where it was and turned the boards over.
