Springfield Armory Rebooting the XD?

-=:: UPDATE ::=-
Over the past days Springfield Armory has been teasing a new pistol. They've been sharing an image that shows only a section of the new pistol. At first several people assumed it was the release of the XDs 40 but on closer inspection it is apparent that it's a completely new design that shares some elements from the XDs. I would like to point out that all of the press around these teasers emphasis 'XD' not 'XDm' or 'XDs'. Words mean things...

Springfield is positioning this new pistol as a small concealable firearm but what will it offer over it's current XDs line-up? Will it be a stripped down cheaper model to compete with the Ruger LC9s and Smith & Wesson Shield? I guess time will tell. What do you think it is?

If you want to get the same updates you can subscribe to Springfield Armory's email blast. More teaser images will be added as I receive them.
